"the human cycling battery"
Tackling a busy schedule and a passion for cycling, Kevin has managed to conquer both aspects, giving him opportunities, experiences and knowledge that needs to be shared.
Growing up, Kevin was immersed in the world of athletic training, honing his skills and focusing on performance improvement from his years as a junior tennis player through college, into a professional career, and even as a nationally ranked senior player. However, his journey took an unexpected turn when ankle arthritis brought his tennis and distance running endeavors to an abrupt halt.
But rather than let setbacks define him, Kevin delved deeper into his passion for the science of athletic performance.
As a self-proclaimed science and data geek, he has always been fascinated by the intricacies of physical and mental performance training. This passion led him to apply scientific principles to endurance training, starting with a monumental goal: completing an Ironman distance triathlon.
Over three years, he meticulously researched and crafted a structured training plan encompassing physical, dietary, and mental components. Beginning with sprint triathlons, progressing to half Ironman distances, and finally conquering the full Ironman distance at the Vineman Triathlon in 1999, he embarked on a journey that tested his limits and reshaped his understanding of endurance.
